Cody Benard, CSST, is a safety professional at Pearson Safety Solutions, LLC. Cody’s personal background includes growing up as a local to West Tennessee. He graduated from Crockett County High School in 2009. After that, he meritoriously served 4 years in the United States Navy while deploying overseas with the USS ENTERPRISE CVN-65 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge, he separated from the Armed Services as an E-5, Petty Officer. Cody believes his military experience is where his true passion for safety, willingness to train others, and be a resource to Americas workforce comes from.
His professional background includes being an Authorized OSHA outreach instructor in the Construction Industry as well as completing his Construction Site Safety Technician/Supervisor designation from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Cody is also a Certified Environmental Specialist. He has provided his professional knowledge and expertise on some of the largest construction sites in U.S. History, and for some of the biggest names in the Oil and Gas industry (Sasol, BP, Marathon, Dow)
Two examples are the Sasol Megaproject in Lake Charles, Louisiana and the CF Expansion Project in Sioux City, Iowa. In Lake Charles, Cody was the HSE Manager for the Ethylene Oxide/ Ethylene Glycol Unit which produces 300,000 tons per year of hydrocarbons. He held overall responsibility for the Health and Safety of 230 employees on dayshift and 150 employees on night shift. In Sioux City, he was the HSE manager for the Ammonia and Urea units in a Nitrogen plant that produces fertilizer essential to helping farmers feed the current population of 7.8 billion people worldwide, holding overall responsibility for the Health and Safety of over 300 employees.
